Help Sellers Understand How Clients Buy

Stu’s Four People Personality Styles Assessment helps sellers understand their own natural style and recognize how clients communicate, decide, and buy.

Many years ago, I went on a sales call and gave what I thought was a strong presentation. The client responded immediately and committed to buy. I left thinking, “This is easier than I thought.”

A week later, I met with another prospect who looked very similar on paper. I gave the same presentation, made the same points, and got nothing. No response. No interest. No sale.

That experience made me ask a question every salesperson and sales manager eventually faces:

Why does one client respond while another one shuts down?

After many more sales calls, I began to see the pattern. Clients do not all define value the same way. They do not make decisions the same way. They do not communicate the same way. And when sellers fail to recognize those differences, good opportunities can stall or disappear.

That insight led me to study personality styles and develop what became my Four People Personality Styles framework.

The lesson was simple, but powerful:

It’s not how you sell. It’s how your client buys.

The Four People Personality Styles Assessment helps sellers understand their own natural style and begin recognizing the styles of others. For sales managers, this creates a practical coaching tool for helping new and developing sellers become more aware, more adaptable, and more effective in client conversations.

When sellers understand how different clients think, communicate, and decide, they are better equipped to ask stronger questions, build trust, present value in a way the client can hear, and move opportunities forward with more confidence.

The result is stronger relationship selling, more consistent performance, and a smoother transition from onboarding to real selling.

What the Assessment Helps Sellers See

The Four People Personality Styles Assessment helps sellers identify their own natural style and begin recognizing how others approach communication, decisions, trust, and value.

For sales managers, this creates a practical coaching tool. When new and developing sellers understand more than their own preferred approach, they are better equipped to adapt to the client in front of them, ask stronger questions, and move conversations forward with greater confidence.

What Happens Next

The assessment is short and practical. After completing it, participants identify their primary Personality Style and gain a clearer understanding of how that style can affect sales conversations, client relationships, and communication.

The assessment can be used individually or as a starting point for team training, coaching, and sales-development conversations.
